Maintenance

How you live on your floor depends on the individual household. There are some measures you can take to lengthen its life span:

Regular cleaning of floor with dust mops - avoid using steam mops
A damp mop (combined with a timber floor cleaner) occasionally can be applied to clean your timber floor for those nasty spill's
Always use floor cleaner recommended for timber floors
Minimise direct light on floor as it will discolour over time
Use rugs and mats in high traffic areas
Place felt pads on bottom of furniture so that the floor does not get scratched when moving chairs etc

In addition to ensure that your timber floor is kept to the highest look and durability, we recommend a fine sand and re-coat is applied every few years before you wear through your floors protective seal coating. This process will also avoid having to sand down to bare timber which can be a very expensive exercise.

Installation Process

After selecting your timber of choice it will be delivered and then monitored for its moisture content. The timber will need to be placed within the home until the moisture content is at its correct level. This is because any evident moisture in your sub-floor or timber flooring, will adversely affect the performance and look of a timber floor.

Floor Preperation

The sanding and polishing of your timber floor should follow the completion of all other trades such as painters, plumbers, electricians etc. We recommend that all painting should be completed except the final coat on skirting boards.
Power must be available with a safe access route provided to the site.
Clients are responsible for removal of all furniture and floor coverings including staples, smooth edge, tats and glue. Abode Floors can provide removal of these if need be (at an additional cost).

Process

A standard sized 80m2 three bedroom home will take approximately 3-4 days to sand and seal. It is recommended that furniture is placed back on your new timber floor after a further 3-5 days depending on product used.
